A bug was identified in Encoder version 4.8 and previous builds when configuring the Rev interface in the encoder.
Encoders being used as Source Devices in Rev, send periodic heartbeats to Rev, to maintain their "online" status. Occasionally sockets for these heartbeats don’t close properly and accumulate over time. Once enough sockets accumulate the encoder reaches a state where the OS forces a reboot to clear the condition. This has been patched in encoder release 4.9
Some Workarounds if you are unable to upgrade to 4.9 currently:
1) Reboot the encoder periodically at scheduled intervals and before large events. 2) If possible, disable the Rev interface. The encoder will still function and its streams can be still be used. Encoder control will have to be manual instead of by Rev and a custom device will have to be configured in Rev for as Source Device for the Presentation Profile. |
